Tips To Find A Great Diet Plan For Permanent Weight Loss

When you start to think about starting a diet most people only think about quick results i.e. the 7 day diet, the bikini diet etc. They do not tend to look at the years ahead and what their body and health needs for the rest of their life.

So-called fad or quick fix diets are certainly nothing new, and they’ve been around for a long, long time. They do work for short-term results, such as if you want to get into a bikini for summer. However, the diet industry actually thrives on our failure, because let’s face it; if we actually succeed long-term, they no longer make money from us.

In the first few days of a new year, when people have decided to lose weight after their binge over Christmas, we are bombarded with this diet, that diet along with a range of exercise DVD’s. A few weeks later it all goes away until the spring and it starts again for pre summer holiday then lose weight to get into your party frock.

Instead of going through that merry-go-round again and again, though, why not start a “diet” that’s going to produce not only the results you want, but a way of life that can become permanent, so that you can maintain your weight ideally and never have to look at another “diet” again? In fact, our metabolism is one of the most important factors in our diets, but many of us have the wrong idea of just what that means. Here are four major areas dieters make mistakes:

1. Trying to lose weight from just one area. It’s a known fact; you can’t just “spot reduce.” All those late-night infomercials aside, if you want to lose fat on your butt, you have to lose fat everywhere. So, a whole body workout is key, not that nifty new piece of equipment that’s (supposedly) going to make your thighs look smaller.

2. Use diet pills to lose weight. These tablets slow down the metabolism by lowering the appetite to lose weight. This is short term result with detrimental effects on your long term wellbeing.

3. Restriction of too many calories. With this there is a reduction in metabolism but any weight loss is actually from fluids, muscle and organ mass. The loss of muscle will reduce the metabolism and therefore the body’s ability to burn calories and on stopping the low calorie intake you will regain weight and possibly put on more than before.

4. Thinking of metabolism as a “one factor only” element. Metabolism isn’t just affected by one area of your lifestyle; in fact, your sleeping habits, your gender, the amount of muscle mass you have, and your age, among other characteristics, affect it.

To be successful you must take into consideration all of the above areas. The first priority when dieting, or in general living, is your overall personal health. Do not be blinded by great diet plans and extravagant ideas, always look after your health.

Do Some Research Before You Choose A Weight Loss Diet Plan

With all the variety of diet plans available, sometimes it can be tough trying to figure out which one is right for you. You’ve got your low calorie, your low carb, your low fat, your rotational, strict, lenient and more and mores plans. It can be confusing.

It’s fortunate, though, that you can research diet plans in depth before you try them out. You can go online and take a look at diet plans so that you can find one that fits what you want. It’s a really bad feeling, I know, if you start a diet only to realize that it’s not for you pretty soon after you start.

I believe many people fail to complete a diet plan because it has either foods they don’t like, too much or too little exercise, doesn’t give them enough instructions or isn’t suited for their particular lifestyle. Every time you fail, the tendency is to blame yourself. But it may be the case that you just didn’t pick the right plan that’s suited to your particular needs and desires.

There are a lot of different diets out there for a reason. That is, they all work for someone. So, every plan is not going to be right for everyone. Remember this as you research various diet plans that can help you lose weight. What you want is a safe diet plan and a great diet plan — for you. Remember that no diet plan is “great” if it doesn’t fit you. Just because your friend is having success with a certain diet doesn’t mean you will, too.

Let’s say, for example, that a friend of yours is on a diet that he or she raves about, so you decide you’re going to give it a try. Only, it doesn’t work for you, which leaves you frustrated, and continuing search for something that’s going to be right for you. There are a lot of diet sites out there that will let you review several plans at once so that you can choose the right plan for you.

Be careful, though, because many diet plan review sites are actually worthless, in that their purpose is to sell a particular product. What you want is a diet plan review site that’s well put together and that has valuable information about each diet plan, including drawbacks and advantages. And of course, you want honest opinions about why these diets work or why they don’t.

There are many great diet plans, but just because they’re great doesn’t mean they’re right for everyone. I decided to create a review site that helps people make informed decisions on choosing the right diet one. This is the first step, after all, in the weight loss journey and it’s gotta be the right one.

You’ll be able to see what’s involved with each diet plan, so you’ll know whether or not a particular diet plan would work for you. You can start this next diet, finally, feeling confident that you have finally chosen the right one, so that you’ll have success. This will bring you to your goal of weight loss that finally is going to be permanent.

Finally, you’ll be able to lose the weight so that you can have the body you have always dreamed of. Lose weight permanently (and fast) by uncovering hidden habits that keep you in failure. If you’ve been a yo-yo dieter, for example, you can stop doing that and rediscover healthy eating again. It’s time to rediscover the new you.

What You’ll Find In A Work Out DVD

The wide array of work out DVD content is no different from that of work out videos. The only difference is that some of the DVDs allow you to do the exercise with or without the cheesy music (and with or without the instructor’s eventually-annoying voice). They will all be at least 30 minutes of the instructor demonstrating the fitness movements, but they won’t all have the same mannerisms and degree of intensity as other instructors on other work out DVDs.

There are so many different fitness instructors that you will find when you pop the DVD in. There will be male instructors, female instructors, group instructors–all with different styles and personalities that show through the TV. It is definitely a wide assortment that ranges from a pleasant-sounding woman with plenty of positive feedback on your appearance to a no-frills-sounding man with nothing but tough love for your last 60 seconds of intense ab crunches.

It will be up to you on what you will consider to be a good work out DVD. Some instructors will make you feel at ease, or they will make you feel very pushed, and that is up to you on what you prefer! They will be all doing this from a staged set-up, whether it is a brightly-lit studio floor space or a dimly-lit industrial powerhouse gym.

Usually, the instructor won’t be standing alone. There will most likely be a group of men and women (depending on who the work out DVD is geared towards) exercising right alongside the instructor. They will be your guide as you may possibly feel alone and unsure of how to do the fitness moves.

This is also to provide you with the opportunity to relate to at least one or more of the people moving to the instructor’s commands. There will be some exercisers trying an easy version of a movement, while there will be others trying a rather difficult version.

You might notice that in some work out DVDs, there is absolutely no sweating going on. Just happy smiles and glowing cheeks, but no sweat to be found. You might notice the opposite in other DVDs, where everyone is drenched from head to toe in sweat and struggling with some moves. That is all the decision of the director and producer to portray to you.

The beauty of purchasing a work out DVD (or two, or three!) is that the return of investment is far greater than purchasing a gym membership. The more you use the DVD, the cheaper it will have cost you to use it! This is different than the cost of a gym, where you have put down a far larger payment and continue to make monthly payments afterwards.

The added benefit to having a collection of different work out DVDs is that you can change the exercise up whenever you want! You can use the ab work out DVD of one program with a cardio DVD of another. Or, you can make a complete hybrid of two fitness programs to take your body to the next level of results.

Where Do Work Out DVD Sets Come From?

What in the world is a work out DVD, and where did it come about?

Here I go diving right into my review of a work out DVD, all their nutrition supplemental material, and whatchamacalits without even explaining to the rest of you folks at home what it even is. Forgive me!

Some of you are asking me now: so, what does a work out DVD do?

You may deny it, but I know that a lot of you older folks out there have seen at least one syndicated episode of a work out show on TV. They are very old exercise shows featuring a smiling man and a smiling woman wearing very form-fitting fitness leotards, and they were there for your fitness! Yes, those fitness instructors on TV were always smiling, but they made sure to keep up the good attitude so you could follow their aerobic moves properly.

You might remember all of the happy tunes jingling in the background while simple images of stars and single-colored graphics in between each of the different exercise routines. You also might remember how those exercises were so easy. But, you still broke some kind of sweat. But, why weren’t the instructors on TV?

Secretly, I would stare in awe at these TV exercise personalities’ spandex attire and wonder where I could get myself a nice leotard like theirs.

Now, you know you remember those shows! No one will judge you if you admit to sweating to the oldies with Richard Simmons, or if you were body buddies on KDOC. You had to get your work out on somehow, and at that time it was whenever the show was on.

If it weren’t for advances in technology, the VCR wouldn’t exist, and we wouldn’t realize the power of recording those televised work out programs onto videotapes. Programs that could be distributed by the thousands and thousands, to people anywhere in the country. Programs that allowed us frugal citizens to attain our better fitness at any time of the day instead of waiting for the syndicated show to appear.

With the luxury of having a television set (with a VCR) in our homes, we could collect those work out videos, pop our favorite one into the VCR, and exercise away.

Fast forward to today, where we have multitudes of DVD players, where the physical sizes were so much less than the size of a video tape, a laserdisc and a vinyl record. They would hold at least four times more information.

It is definitely an improvement in the course of our home fitness. These work out DVDs allure us with the entire surface covered with images of bodybuilders and fitness models so we can strive towards having similar-looking bodies.

In the realm of home fitness, Beth Prager holds her work out DVD sets near and dear to her heart. You are welcome to reprint this article - but get your own unique content version here.

Get Benefits of Taking The Best Type of Aerobics

Since the 80s, aerobics took the world of exercise by storm. Different from high intensity workouts used by professional athletes before, aerobics is a moderate exercise that is effective in improving one’s overall fitness.

After being developed by Dr. Kenneth Cooper, regular aerobics exercises and routines had been enhanced and were given innovations since its inception into the mainstream of modern life.

A big part of the appeal of aerobics on almost everybody is the fact that it is simply any moderate physical activity that can be performed continuously for a certain length of time.

This type of exercise works the body at the lower end of the target heart rate area, causing the heart and lungs to adapt and become strong.

Because of this, aerobics is known as the best cardio and weight-loss exercise routine. Most bodybuilders attest that aerobics provide a sustained calorie-burning effect not matched by any exercise.

The best aerobic exercise for burning fat and losing permanent weight will depend, of course, on the individual’s fitness level. If one has low fitness levels (most often, people who are just starting out), walking or step aerobics would probably be best.

Some recommendations

For starters, the best aerobics would include walking, running, jumping rope, ski machines, treadmills, rowers, health riders and more.

If you are just starting out or have not been working out lately, the best starter program is walking. Even if the fat-burning potential in walking is low, this is a great routine for beginners.

In time, on the advice of your trainer and doctor, you can step up your routine. Perhaps, you can later jog and increase the intensity level in your fat-burning.

Running and cycling

Running or jogging, the logical next level after your walking is rated the best aerobic exercises by many experts. It has a high fat-burning capacity, and if done with consistency, will produce obvious results every practitioner can feel and see for themselves.

One should be on alert, though, on the danger for individuals to over-train. The name of the game is moderation, especially if you have some medical history of cardio-vascular problems. As always, consult your doctor first.

Cycling, either on a stationary bike or a real one, is another fun and excellent aerobics routine. Cross-country or mountain biking not only gives you the exercise benefits you want, but will also get you to see scenic places that can excite the mind.

Treadmills and weights

In treadmills, you can combine walking, jogging and perform resistance training as well. The possibility of doing high intensity exercise routines in treadmills makes them very effective aids in your fat-burning goals.

This is also true with other exercise gears in the gym like rowing machines. In rowing, the whole body routines can greatly help in burning calories.

On the advice of your trainer, you may add a light weight training session to your aerobics. This might be done at least thrice a week. Weight training with aerobics is a potent combination for burning fat as well as preserving and toning your muscles.

Moderation and consistency

In all of these, the main frame of mind of the exerciser should be consistency. Aerobics needs moderation. Anything more intense is another exercise program.

Cardio Workout Burning Fat

The use of a cardio to burn fat can be a very difficult thing to do. The common thought with most people is that doing cardio to lose fat is the quickest way to burn fat as possible. Unfortunately, cardio helps burn fat can actually slow down your results if you do not do it right!

Why go through Cardio to burn fat might not work

The most common method of using cardio to burn fat is called “steady state” training. This means looking at the same speed for long periods of time. This type of cardio is the most common thing I see in most health clubs I’ve been through.

Many people who use the method of steady state cardio training rarely lose any fat unless they are in a very restricted diet. The reason that the steady-state training is not the best method of cardio to burn fat all comes back to your metabolism.

As you probably know, your metabolism is like your body burns calories. The higher your metabolism, burn more fat. The best way to increase metabolism through exercise to add muscle mass or the use of high intensity intervals, while doing cardio. Steady state cardio will burn some calories while doing it, but has little effect on the metabolism!

Not only that, but your body adapts very quickly to a regular cardio workout state, which may make it difficult to burn fat using this method. The first time you get on a treadmill, elliptical, bike, etc, it feels very engaged in doing just a little work. But as you progress in your body adapts more and more. It gets to the point that your body is so adapted to drive same steady state as you go longer and harder to keep challenging it!

Solution Cardio to burn fat

As you can see, do steady state cardio to burn fat is not the best option. If you want to burn fat with cardio, a great alternative to the state of equilibrium is called interval training. Interval training is different to that of steady state cardio, and will play an important role in burning calories and most importantly, increasing your metabolism.

Interval training is a great way to burn fat with cardio, it involves alternating back and forth between high and low intensities.

Here’s how to burn fat with interval training cardio workout …

Use a stationary bike or lying if you are a beginner.

1. Start by heating for 5 minutes. 2. Then increase the pace slightly and the resistance for the next 2 minutes. 3. Then go very fast for 30 seconds - 1 minute - almost as hard as you can. 4. The slow replication and 2 minutes - 1 minute interval 3-6 times faster. 5. End of cooling for 5 minutes.

If you do this kind of cardio workout try to burn fat, you will see how much better than steady-state heart. Through the use of interval training as a cardiovascular way to burn fat is to see how the changes in intensity every minute or two really makes the whole training go much faster. As I have already mentioned, the best part about the use of interval training as a cardio workout, burn fat, that it is up to speed up your metabolism for optimal fat loss!

Remember to consult a physician before beginning any exercise program that involves doing cardio to burn fat. So go try interval training as your next cardiovascular workout to burn fat. Work hard, train hard and be careful!

Aerobic Step Bench: Intensify Your Routine

Are you getting sick and tired of your aerobic routine? Has it become less challenging than it seemed before? Maybe it’s time to add an aerobic step bench to your workout.

An aerobic bench is simply a portable step that measures about 1 foot by 3 feet. Beginners should start with around a 6-inch height which can be increased as you need it. You’ll want to select a stable, well-balanced bench with a non-slippery, textured surface.

Adding an aerobic bench strengthens and tones your butt and thighs in addition to really ramping up the cardio benefits of your workout. By using these large muscle groups, you use more energy and so you burn more calories.

For my routine I create a circuit which alternates step moves with other aerobic activities. It’s much less boring and more fun if you add some lively music! There are many DVD’s available to help you come up with a huge variety of routines involving aerobic benches.

Do you have a Nintendo Wii? There are plenty of step aerobic activities available for the Wii. If you use a variety of approaches, you will stay motivated to regularly do your workouts.

Beginners should not use an aerobic bench. You should let your body become used to less stressful activities first, then ramp up the intensity level gradually by adding a step. As you increase the height of your bench you will increase your workout intensity, but this will be less stressful than jumping rope.

People with balance issues or knee problems, or who are obese, should be very cautious when trying to use an aerobic bench. If you feel unstable at all or if you feel discomfort anywhere, this is your body’s way of telling you to stop doing that!

Find out more about the aerobic step bench, and visit Deb Conn’s blog, That Figures Women’s Fitness

Best results is to have your arms at your sides which focuses in the abdominal area which directly focuses on your abs, then you will raise your shoulders to your knees using your stomach muscles. Don’t lift your entire back off the floor because that will strain your neck and back. For best results you need to do repetitive crunches.

Many gyms have twisting machines, you can do side bends, you can use a medicine ball and twist side to side while holding the ball.
